A month ago, I started my MSc in Web Development at the University of Roehampton (yay 🥳), and it feels like everything I’ve done has led me here.
After many twists and lessons, life has given me the chance to put all the pieces together, and only now that knowledge finally makes sense... well, so far 😄
Would you like to know how it all began?
When I was 16, while attending high school full-time, I took a two-year Computer Studies course at weekends to develop new skills and use technology for my school projects. Back then, my dream was to study hashtag#GraphicDesign, I loved art and visual expression.
At that time, there wasn’t really such a thing as hashtag#WebDevelopment, or anything that clearly combined both worlds. It felt more like choosing between two paths, one creative or one technical, with nothing in between.
So, when it was time to choose a degree, I stuck with hashtag#Computing because I already had the foundations, and it felt like a natural step. I gave it a try, but after one year I realised I wasn’t connecting with it anymore. It felt too rigid and left little room for creativity. You could tell that place wasn’t right for me then. I cared too much about looks and loved using colours to write C++ code 😅
Eventually, I switched to hashtag#Marketing, and it felt like a middle ground, creative and still connected to the digital world.
Paused for a second… and let’s be honest, isn’t it a lot of pressure to know what you’ll be for the rest of your life when you’ve barely become an adult. So, please don’t judge me.

Over time, I became more interested in the human side of business. I focused on empathy, understanding people and learning from different cultures. I created meaningful experiences. It was rewarding and taught me how attention to detail can transform an experience 🥰
But still, something was missing...
I had a quiet desire to create something of my own but wasn’t sure what that was. Years went by, and after reflecting on that famous phrase, ‘make money doing what you love’, I thought maybe that little hobby of building websites was worth revisiting... So, I took the leap and reconnected with the technical side I’d left behind.
Today, I feel like I’m finally bringing everything full circle through Web Development. It’s not just about building websites, it’s about combining what I love: creativity, structure and purpose 🩷
It feels like I’m building a space where I can recognise business needs, use my branding and marketing skills, add empathy and turn it into something useful, helping others strengthen their digital presence.
That’s why this master’s feels like a long-awaited reunion!
The missing piece connecting everything I’m passionate about with everything I’ve learnt. Rather than feeling proud of adding another qualification I see this master’s as the milestone I’d been waiting for.
A place where I can lead, dream and take action, and keep following wherever curiosity takes me next 😄
